Are those large cubes on the driver's indicative of either boost or buck function?

Yeah, they are inductors used for switching converters (and the one on the left is a real monster!). @[email protected] is known for high efficiency drivers, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Yup, it’s pretty hefty : 14.5x13.5x10.7mm

Indeed they’re inductors as @[email protected] said, in this case both are boost drivers.
