Congrats!
Suprised to see the label says Red Bronze..
Chinese use the same root word, tóng, for Brass, Bronze, and Copper, as they are all different colors of Copper or Copper Alloys.
Usually what we call Copper is what they call Red Copper, and what we call Brass they call Yellow Copper.. but I dont know why they labeled it Bronze.. Initially the Brass TS10 was called Copper.. so there is some confusion in translation..
notice these are all tóng:
copper: Tóng
red copper: Zǐtóng
bronze: Qīngtóng
red bronze: Hóng gǔtóngsè
brass: Huáng tóng
yellow copper: Huáng tóng
now my question is.. is the TS10 actually Pure Copper (I want to believe that), or is it an alloy w tin, aka bronze (I dont think so but needs confirmation).
Wow very interesting. Thanks for the info.
FWIW my brass TS10 says "Yellow Metal" on the box.
Thanks for the reply, that’s very interesting! I must confess I didn’t realise they all contained copper. So those examples, and the box text imply these lights are a ‘red’ variant of bronze?
I’m no metallurgist but I’d say the material/finish is very close to regular copper pipe.
My brass one did say ‘Yellow Metal’ too @antisuck.
undefined> these lights are a ‘red’ variant of bronze?
imo, No
I do not believe the copper TS10 is red bronze. I think the label on the box is an error in translation.
imo the copper TS10 is pure copper, not bronze and not brass.
however, I have not tried to get confirmation about the Copper in the TS10 from Wurkkos. Im not sure I would believe their answer (unless it was the answer I want to hear), since there seems to be a language barrier.
That's interesting, thanks for the information!
I've been eyeing the new copper TS10 for a while now, the auto-RGB aux was a no-go for me. I have the MAO/red aux in 4000k and really enjoy the tint, but this one would probably be amazing in 3000k with orange or red aux.
I'll probably have to wait for a good deal to justify getting one, esp. since I already have a thrower in the mail now...
