I moved into a new place and I’ve heard it’s a good idea to flush out you water heater at least once a year. So I looked up how to do that on YouTube. Found a good video after maybe 1 or 2 that weren’t great, but I got it done.
Then YouTube is like “OH THIS GUY LOVES WATER HEATERS??? HERES SOME MORE VIDEOS ABOUT THAT!!!”
Just like flushing out your water heater, it's a good idea to flush out your watch history on YouTube to avoid over recommendations of a single topic.
You don't even have to clear the whole thing; just the video about water heaters you watched. Also be sure to clear the search history, since that also is probably used in their metrics; and if you use Chrome this means all your search and browsing history since I clearly see evidence that all Google products share this info with each other.
Unfortunately not much other than physically disabling the microphone(s) on your android device to prevent just random conversation in the device's presence from also being added to recommended videos, search results and targeted ads. Which of course would make a phone useless as a phone. 💀
The classic UGH of YouTube.
