I'm super into the changes to the story that make it seem like you're literally altering time somehow. For years I just wanted the same exact story with better graphics. This is as close as it has gotten, and I'm actually loving the differences more, because it actually feels new and not just the same story I know and love told with minor dialogue differences.
I hope to learn a little more about what's going on with that whole weird side of the story
Same here. There's so much unresolved after Remake. How is Zack's new history going to integrate with the present day? What is Sepiroth really trying to do? Why does Aerith have knowledge of the future? I was always psyched for the remake since before it was even officially confirmed, but I never thought I'd be able to enjoy it as a new story. They've exceeded my expectation in that way.
The story is off the rails, and they spent all of Chapter 18 really driving that home. And then the first trailer started with "the future, even if it has been written, can be changed. So focus on the future, not the past."
I still expect the game to follow the original story's main beats, but how they're going to get there is a mystery to me when so many huge new factors are in play.
Yes, this is what I'm most looking forward to. I need to see how they handle THAT scene. I like the fact that they (or at least Aerith) seem to be aware that something is wrong. I'm hoping they go all in on the concept, it's made me so much more excited for the game.
Oh man, I had totally forgotten about THAT when I was commenting, but yeah! That whole thing has to go down differently due to her awareness of everything going on. I half expect that the old rumor of the materia shown dropping in the original game is Holy, to come back and be proven true.
