Wrecking the environment has always been part of the conservative plan, regardless of the Tories claims to support the environment. Every word uttered by a conservative is deception or manipulation. This has always been true.
Any meaningful protection of the environment can only happen after the complete eradication of conservatism from governments. There does not appear to be a peaceful path to that outcome.
It's a bit funny since the traditional meaning of conservative should be more of "careful progress" rather than "extract all value and disregard anything but profit"
I've commented a lot on this. We need to stop calling Tories and GOP conservative. I'm not in the U.K., but the GOP seems rather fascist and corrupt.
