alt text for four panel image

First panel: a poorly drawn figure with half-closed lids asks a smart™ thermostat "hey little man hows it goin?" Second Panel: the smart thermostat points with a large arrow at a screenshot of a graphic that reads "August Trends: Heating & cooling compared with last year", and shows zero hours more heating, 129 hours more cooling, with a small caption underneath that reads "On average, temperatures were 5 degrees warmer than August 2022" Third Panel: the poorly drawn figure with half-closed lids is shown with an unreadable smile in front of a semi-transparent image of a NASA article that reads "NASA Clocks July 2023 as Hottest Month on Record Ever Since 1880" Fourth Panel: the poorly drawn figure says "yea"

What does this even mean? The warming trends coincide directly with the start of the industrial revolution. Even without direct evidence (of which there is plenty), we have centuries of data to show that this level of warming is statistically significant and does not fall within natural warming/cooling cycles, such as el nino/la Nina.

Maybe this isn't what you're trying to say, but I think it's extremely problematic when people use "fence sitting" arguments. It sounds like you're saying "oh well, we don't know how much warming is actually caused by man made causes... it could only be a little bit!" It's a completely false narrative but it also gives credibility to people who want to block climate progress, and I really don't think anyone should support that.

Humans are animals, everything we do therefore is a part of nature. "abnormal" doesn't mean "unnatural". just like the meteor wiping out the dinosaurs wasn't "unnatural".

Except we've kinda removed ourselves from nature by making medicine and ensuring even the dumbest of us survive.

You're not a part of nature when there's not much natural selection going on.

While I agree, it's far too easy for dumb people to survive and reproduce, it's all natural. Things like abortion and contraception are about the only unnatural things I can think of.

What, do aliens do abortions and contraception?

Or was it created and done by humans and therefore it’s natural?

Stay consistent at least.

So you agree, humans disruptions to natural events are infact natural?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How did you get that from my comment?

[–] luckyhunter -3 points 1 year ago

All human events are natural, thanks for correcting me.
