Beacuase, like it or not, that's where a lot of these types of comics strips originated, or at least grew into their most recent popularity. If you don't resonate with it, great. A generation isn't a monolith. But that also means that it, as a name, isn't referring to you.
But didn't your op assume a generation was a monolith? You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
I don't know what you want me to tell you, as I've already explained, it's just the name for the genre of comics/style of humor that this represents. I'm not the one to take it up with. Go fight culture at large.
