Replacement for r/steamdeck_linux.

As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:

The following is a list of suggested flairs:
[Discussion] - General discussion.
[Help] - A request for help or support.
[News] - News about the deck.
[PSA] - Sharing important information.
[Game] - News / info about a game on the deck.
[Update] - An update to a previous post.
[Meta] - Discussion about this community.

Some more Steam Deck specific flairs:
[Boot Screen] - Custom boot screens/videos.
[Selling] - If you are selling your deck.

These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.

Rules:

Follow the rules of Sopuli
Posts must be related to the Steam Deck in an obvious way.
No piracy, there are other communities for that.
Discussion of emulators are allowed, but no discussion on how to illegally acquire ROMs.
This is a place of civil discussion, no trolling.

Do you play more than before you got your deck?

Do you play the same kinds of games, or do you play different types of games now?

Do you still play at the same times or places, or have those changed?

It's made my Steam collection viable again. I had to box up the PC when we had our second kid, and with it went 400+ games. The Deck has totally gotten me back into that ecosystem again, which is surely what Valve want.

On a personal level it's totally killed my Switch off (Nintendo exclusives aside). I also find myself playing most of my games on the 'Deck right now, because having the flexibility is apparently something I really enjoy.

I think it's amazing that Valve hasn't done anything to royally fuck over Steam users -- surely they have enough money by now that they could afford several unity-tier PR fuckups. But instead they seem to be trying to fuck over Microsoft.

The hardware is a neat gimmick. But it's easy to imitate, anyone can take a tablet and put joysticks on it now. The real magic is Proton, the magnificent hack that makes "windows games" playable without Windows.
