So for some reason the main person at my job agency said that the period I did the trial run for would be unpaid, and it seems like the ombudsman says unpaid Labor is fine within certain areas. But when I asked my job provider if I was getting paid, for the trial run that I would be and that it's illegal for him not to.
I'm a bit confused, and annoyed that it might be unpaid.
Edit: so okay it looks like I will be paid. It's just up to the boss man and I. Iunno, it's very confusing. Because I'm his first like in-house non contract/freelance person. It's a little different.
Is your job agency getting paid, but you are not?
I'm honestly not too sure. Like yeah my boss said that he got sent a message saying that it was unpaid but I got told the trial would be paid for.
not that i know of! unless it's volunteer work or a very clearly set out demonstration of skills (ie.. make 5 coffees to show us how you do it not do a 3 hour service shift to show us how you do it). weird for a job agency to say that
Yeah like I was tasked to do things but I was learning over the course of a week or so. I might talk to the job provider person about tomorrow because I have an appointment with her.
that sounds like.. what normally happens when you start a new paid job. definitely worth a raised eyebrow at the least!
