I hate to be that guy, but reffing was rough on this one.
That being said, if this is still how Luka would deal with officiating in the coming season, Mavs are fucked.
So annoying. I think before last season Coach Kidd said he talked to him about easing up on talking to the refs, and that lasted about 2 games.
One of his only downsides as a player but it’s a big one. How many times did we see the mavs give up points on a 4v5 break because Luka was too busy whining to get back on defense? The excuse was that he’s young but he’s far enough into his career to mature out of this behavior.
Slovenia was up by 4 (not much, but in this game it's a lot) in the 2Q when they didn't call a foul on his post up. He was chirping at the ref (albeit good-naturedly) on the way back and was confused on who he was guarding, leaving Alexander-Walker open in the corner and led to him heating up.
Fortunately for Luka and the Mavs, the NBA caters to superstars much more than FIBA does
Luka's antics made me appreciate Shai all the more
