The terminally online people generally have more experience in dealing with people that have opposing ideas and opinions over someone who never goes online, never leaves their country, and never talks to anyone who isn't just like them and then end up being completely ignorant about people other than themselves and the limited group of people they know, which scares the shit out of them.

Terminally online people tend to a) seek out bubbles where opposing voices are silenced, and b) spiral into extremism due to lack of moderating influence from normal people

Happens to both right and left, it's just the right has a major news organization pushing extremism as well, and rhetoric on the right is more violent so that translates to more violent real world action.
