If you really just want to pull it out I suppose you could find a screw that matches this nut and then you will have something to pull on. I'd be worried what kind of damage to the surrounding wood that would cause.
Yes that does feel like it could rip out the edge. Not sure, inexperienced with that
Use a stack of washers to keep the damage to a minimum. It give the head of the screw something to pull against and spreads out the area you're pushing on the wood.
So... use washers and a bolt that will fit into the fitting. Start with big washers (that will allow the fitting to pass through) then pyramid up to a washer just big enough for the bolt's shaft. Use a wrench to tighten the bolt so much that it pulls out of the wood. Interesting idea.
