Metroidvania is a subgenre of video games focused on guided non-linearity and utility-gated exploration. The term, popularized by video game critic Jeremy Parish, is a portmanteau of Metroid and Castlevania.

This is a cloned community from Reddit. I intend to hand over mod support to the original mods should they choose to migrate to Lemmy.

I've just finished it. What a tense game. Not really that hard as I expected, but the mood is superb. Dark, despondent, brutal.Enemies are very original. Highly recommended.

When I first played that, I got a bit impatient and gave up pretty early, but I played it again maybe two years later and enjoyed it a lot.
