there is a rightwinger instance constantly showing up in my feed and blocking users/communities one by one is getting a bit annoying :/

Weird. Users should be able to block or mute instances.

Yeah!! Mastodon has that and its very useful!

Yep! Same! That feature is definitely instrumental in my generally pro free speech position when it comes to Fediverse moderation. Bad actors usually tend to clump together in tight-knit instances.
