World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I will now treat every American as an enemy. It started as me giving the middle finger to some Washington asshole on the road yesterday. Small steps. Don't feel like going to jail yet, for the actions I really want to do.
Targeting or even murdering random Americans will only accelerate the breakdown of civility and accomplish nothing. Recognize your words as an emotional outburst and channel your anger into something more constructive.
Don't be an emotional reactionary like this guy or Trump are. There are a lot of good Americans out there who are still our friends and allies. Target your feelings to the ones actually harming us. Spraying hatred everywhere doesn't do anyone any good.
Yeah, approx 30% of them.
Ill believe that once those good Americans start a civil war. Nothing short of that will work. One side is trying civil methods and it's only making the other side stronger. They are past the point of no return.
I'm a Washingtonian and I've voted, protested, and in every way possible fought against politicians like this for decades.
This isn't the classic United States "fucking over other countries for US gain". Trump and the MAGA cronies are also fucking over the US for personal gain. They've fooled the most gullible, ignorant fraction of the population into supporting them despite it being against their best interests, a fraction that continues to grow due to decades of intense propaganda, sabotaged public education, and political cultism.
We're all victims here. Some more than others but, with the exception of those supporting the fascist MAGA movement with full knowledge of what they truly stand for, everyone in the world is a victim.
So please do something about your executive. Because we have to respond to the actions they’re taking in your name. Don’t like it? Restrain them. There’s millions more of you than there are of them.
Sure, I'll singlehandedly control the US population as soon as someone tells me how to do it.
I thought there was already an amendment for this
Well the guy is still standing. So you haven't done everything. French people go and burn down the streets. You guy have written a letter and said oh that's all we can do.
Another brave keyboard warrior advocating a disabled guy assassinate one of the most heavily guarded politicians in the world. I'm assuming you're able bodied, what's your excuse for not doing it?
How were they supposed to know you're disabled?
They couldn't without asking questions. That's on me, I lost my cool a bit. I'm getting tired of people like them who are happy to ask others to throw their lives away, people they neither know nor care anything about, but won't do the same themselves.
They're just looking for people to blame for issues they feel they can't control, and my mistake is interacting with them at all.
I agree with the other replies to your comment.
That said, if you happen to encounter an American politician other than Bernie, AOC, or a few others, please do make them as uncomfortable as you can.
Basically, you’re right, but it would be better to be a little more focused.
Oh I'm ready to go all the way. Trumps serious and his threats need to be taken serious. I won't fire the first shot but I'll make sure I'm ready to fire the last one.
The Washingtonians that you want to attack don't live anywhere near your border and rarely travel outside of the trailer parks of Centralia, so I think your anger is misdirected.
