People use laws to outsource their responsibility to decide whether what they are doing is good.

It's common for people to refuse to be taken accountable for their actions, they will just refer to the law. Some go even further and believe everything is good, as long as there is no law against it. Or they blindly follow laws they should know are wrong.

It has become their "chariot of reason".
