Really? I thought other places pretty much used the class 1-3 system too, was I mistaken or did something change?

I think UK doesn't have class system, they just have pedelec(EAPC) and everything else .

My country(Malaysia) also have similar approaches as UK, but mostly because we only allow class 1 and emotorcycle, so there's no need to define everything.

Sure, but other countries outside of the US also use the class 1-3 system. It's not exclusive to one country.
