We genocided native Americans, currently have the largest enslaved people population in the world, and actively have destroyed other countries simply for not wanting to be friends with us when we really wanted them to be our friend.

We have a president actively advocating for invading Mexico, invading Panama, annex Canada, annex Greenland.

The problem with trying to shit talk the "evils of China" is that as Americans, it's purely hypocrisy. We don't have a fucking leg to stand on. Everything they've done we have done or are currently doing.

Does that make what they do okay? No of course not. But pretending they are this axis of pure evil when all they have done is the typical things a large state does is hypocritical and makes you look silly.

You ever considered the cool things China has done?

Oh noooo can't do that. It's Chinese propaganda to pretend they ever have done anything good. Obviously I am a 9 year old chained to a chair being forced to write this.

Everything they’ve done we have done or are currently doing

False equivalence. I wish the US had done the belt and road initiative, instead of having over 900 military bases, predatory loans with policy mandates attached, black ops and political assassinations as well as forcing extractive rather than productive economies on the global south. China hasn't dropped a single bomb on other people in decades, has never seized an asset from a debtor, has never engaged in a war to steal oil and gas or forced an embargo to starve out a nation, let alone starve several dozens at any given time.

The only countries in the 20th century doing what the US has been doing internationally are Nazi Germany and Japan.

The Nazis built the autobahn, but we don't cheer for the Nazis.

Like we shouldn't be cheering on any state, just because of the good.

Yes, I include the US, China, Russia, and all the other states that have committed untold evil on humanity, even if they all also did something good.

But it's still good to talk about the good things because those good things help us do better the next time. Doesn't mean you gotta go out and buy a Chinese flag, learn Mandarin, defect, marry a Chinese woman and integrate into the culture, swear yourself to the CCP and what the fuck else. You can just be like "hey China is investing heavily into public transport. It's pretty effective. Neat"

You know. The way you react to any country doing a neat thing. But since we got this "China is evil dictatorship where their whole population is basically enslaved" mindset, you can't. That's propagandas power. They are just people like the rest of us.

Nazism is when a US politician doesn't like you, and the more they don't like you the nazier you are

Not correct, but go on.

When you bring this Argument I really wonder if people in the 3 big military states are all bonkers. Like sure! That's what progressive people criticized about USA as well as China for years, and sure, here in Europe we have inhuman systemic problems as well (no power of EU parliament, illegal pushbacks, letting people drown in the meditarnian sea, unfair free trade agreements, Europe corporates owning way to much factorys and land in Africa, still profiting from colonial times to name a few) but using that as an argument that another regions atrocities are actually okay, because others do it to? Wtf is this argument.

[–] SmilingSolaris 10 points 2 weeks ago

I didn't make that argument. You make a good point but it's in agreement with mine, not against it. The point I'm making is people can talk about America without it being about our crimes. I can talk about the urban planning and shit of Amsterdam without someone coming in to tell me about how bad the fucking Belgium Congo was.

However, nothing good can be said about China without " CHINESE PROPAGANDA, YOUR JUST A PAID SHILL, REMEMBER TIANANMEN SQUARE?!?!" When we are just trying to have a basic ass fucking cultural exchange. No other country in the god damn world catches that much flack for the shit they do. That hatred is bred deep and I'm tired of it.
