Wow, what a sad to day to have read his Political views and criticism on Wikipedia
Much as with Cixin Liu, if you're a public figure in China you better learn to bend the knee if you don't want to be "disappeared". There's no way of knowing what anybody's actual views are, really.
Yeah, you can kinda tell. When someone is rambling on and on and on about something, versus "just going through the motions" to not seem like an opponent. He is in the former category.
