Democrats voted for the government to stay functional. Fuck your both sides bullshit.
Both sides reached a bi-partisan agreement before Musk got involved. Then Trump went along with it. Neither of those two hold office but they killed the agreement. That doesn't sound functional to me. Except for long-term issue (like the debt ceiling), I say: let the Republicans pay for their chaos. The Democrats went along with the chaos this time. Yeah some people will be hurt but isn't that what the Republican want? Let them and we'll see what happens.
Well, based on every time this has happened in the past, Republicans get lauded as prescient for their constant claims of "government doesn't work" while Democrats get blamed for being ineffectual.
Why do think, this time, people will actually realize how much Republicans are just two-bit scam artists? Do you think the American people will have some sudden epiphany, despite decades of that never happening in this exact scenario?
Because people haven't really felt the results of their bad choices.
There's a well-known process for teaching your dog to not run into things when it's walking on a leash. If you pull it away from the post (parked car, etc.) just before it makes contact, it'll never learn anything. Instead, let it run into the obstacle. After a while it will learn.
It's not like we have much of a choice now. Trump and his cronies will take as much as they can for themselves and their friends. They'll cut as many social services, and give away as many government assets/contracts, as possible.
I think the Democrats need to do everything they can to make the Republican party own the results. Bailing them out from their poor choices won't help.
'Got any better ideas?
