If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

It's a lot of work, but I feel this is the biggest payoff of what I try to do here. Doing 2 if these matches a day is probably 60-90 minutes work, plus all the responses to your comments, plus the summaries.
It really boosts the community, and the point of my use of the community is to get you all engaged with your local wildlife, the unsung heroes fighting to preserve that life, and to raise awareness of all the marvelous creatures and ecosystems you may never get opportunity to see, but you can still can for them and do your part to save them.
I try not to get pushy about sending money anywhere, but if you love your native wildlife, please support your local rescue. They all operate solely on volunteered time and private donations. From squirrels and songbirds, to owls, eagles, racoons, opossums, beavers, foxes, wolves, they do what they can for the animals where you live. You can play an active part in their health and safety by donating time, supplies, or money to help them do this important work.
People feel like they have no voice or impact, but this is a way anyone can take part in their real life community.
It is a lot of fun for us to see great photos and read wonderful stories every day, but I'm also trying to plant seeds in all your hearts to not just be an observer, but also to be participants whenever possible.
So I hope that is not too manipulative of me, I'm at least transparent I am trying to influence you all! 😇
