It’s pronounced like “doll”; a nickname you might give a woman if this were the 1950’s.

Ah, right. That's very different from how the (male) Dahl character I know of is pronounced (at least in the audiobooks).

In Battlestar Galactica? IIRC that's a nickname, not her actual character's name. I've not seen Riddick, but Dahl is an actual character's given name in another series I've read, and there it's a male name, so after reading the OP but before watching the video I assumed it was a male there too.
