So, I find these comparisons amusing, don't get me wrong, but don't they just reinforce the prejudices those anti-immigration people have? It's essentially saying they're right to stop people from coming in, as it'll end poorly for them.

My thought exactly. The indigenous guys represent Trump and the ship represents Mexicans.

The indigenous guys are right that the ship will bring suffering...so it kind of implies that Mexicans are everything Trump says they are. They are not.
