I’m thinking of upgrading to an open source watch in 2026 when I’m primed for a new one. Maybe we will have a Pinetime 2 model by then.

It doesn't really compare in that the apple watch is a much more powerful device. I think of pinetime more as a fitness tracker sort of thing than a smart watch.

It's cute, doesn't do too many things, lasts about a week on a charge, uses regular 20mm watch bands (though has recessed lugs so can still be tricky) etc.

I use mine a lot for it's built in metronome to help me time static stretches.

You can have it do heart rate tracking when the screen turns on by just not stopping the heart rate app after turning it on once.

I honesty prefer the more minimal design of the pinetime over the fancier smart watches I've had. It just works, and it doesn't spy. Peak design.
