This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.
This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

I’m getting a bit of whiplash here.
The sentiment on Lemmy is usually that we should stop being the world police.
Personally, I think that would make for a worse outcome and I guess we’re gonna find out.
When people want America to stop playing world police, they mean stop invading other countries, not stop supporting allied countries that are being invaded
Maybe we shouldn't be the world police AND we shouldn't team up with the world's biggest enemy against our supposed allies?
Yeah they don't want America to be the World Police, cuz police don't protect people. Protecting our allies isn't policing.
The semantic games are boring and tiring.
I think they mean american police, and I wholeheartedly agree.
I get the impression that people don’t like the fact our military is as big as it is. And “Why are you over here in $country?”
If Trump actually executes what I believe most conservatives want and we pull back from being the world police, people will quickly realize the value. It just might be too late by that point.
If the US is not going to protect its allies, then it should stop blocking its allies from getting nuclear bombs via the non proliferation treaty, or stop getting annoyed that the increases of GDP for the military aren't spent in US defends contractors but in local ones.
That depends on the country and local experience with the US, which differes a lot. When it comes to Europe, US presence in NATO is crucial for the region's security since WW2.
Besides what is required of us due to NATO (really REALLY hope we don't pull out of that) we dot a lot of other ancillary force projection.
This could be unfounded fears but I worry the US won't be the ones who directly feel the affects if it does happen.
