Why do these people have so much confidence that this is supposed to work? Are there people in the group lying that it actually worked for them?

Desperation, gullibility, and grifting.

Going to assume the success stories also point to a website where you can buy those forms or some service.

They pay "gurus" to teach them all this nonsense, so they are pretty well suckered into it.
