I feel like the internet has turned really shit and at some point itโll be so user unfriendly that itโs barely usable. I miss past eras of it (well the ones Iโm old enough to have known) and the niches I like of current day are the ones most similar to that. I want to go back.
Lemmy is like a cosy comforting old school forum.
I miss when I scrolled I saw memes and not 4-year-old reposts. But I guess itโs good I donโt spend much time scrolling now.
I think I need to spend less time scrollingโฆ it just sucks that Outside is hostile
I wish to switch to the Indinet
Ah good luck, hope your breathing is ok
The internet has become very easy to use, very. Except the ease is all in being fed answers, not in doing what we want for ourselves.
At the same time it has never been so unsafe tho it was always a bit unsafe. Stormfront has had a presence since the mid 1990s. The mormons put net nannies on member's computers so people couldn't search for independent information. etc
Search engines were pretty accurate and useful tho.
Newspapers and tv didn't have a presence yet.
It was easy to set up a chat board, you could just get ubuntu skins and go with a provider.
I find it a lot scarier now
