I wonder how much damage that little stunt caused to that borehole, which I suspect cost a pretty penny to create.

Don't be such a borehole.
Given the thickness of the snow layer, that's probably a scientific study borehole, where the only value is in the core sample already returned. Regardless, a tiny bit of snow wouldn't matter to any of the usual uses for boreholes.
