Too lazy to upload a separate image, but it's pink and south of the "stan" in Kazakhstan and north of the "stan" in Pakistan.

Tajikistan, officially the Republic of Tajikistan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia. Dushanbe is the capital and most populous city. Tajikistan is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and China to the east. It is separated from Pakistan by Afghanistan's Wakhan Corridor.

I dont think I've ever heard of it either.

I have friends from Iran and India, and I have a family member to lived in Kazahkstan for a couple years, so I've heard of it, but I couldn't tell you very much about it. Just roughly where it is (east of the Caspian Sea). I couldn't even tell you confidently what the climate or geography looks like, just a rough guess of "probably similar to Afghanistan?"
