That's what I mean, God gave man free will, but expected them to obey and do the 'right' thing regardless, even though they don't have to.
Lucifer immediately proved they would disobey by suggesting they eat the fruit even after being told not to, and it was all downhill from there.
At least, that's my interpretation.
