A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Painted up my Flyrant for the new edition! He's kinda flat though because I can't seem to figure out how to shade the white carapace without it looking horribly dirty. So I was thinking of giving him a glossy varnish to make him look shiny like some real life insects to compensate.

For white I usually paint some offwhite shade for the most part and then edge highlight with white. As you are now, you might try edgelining the recesses with a khaki to get a shaded but warm feeling.

Orange-red to orange highlights on the gun would be sick. Just saying.

I'll definitely try that with the khaki! Maybe I'll have better control than I did trying to use shades for depth. The orange to red highlights sounds good too, so I guess it has a little more to go before being done lol.
