I was reading that they are using loitering repeater drones, so you suffer a tiny touch of lag for better fidelity.

It also allows for much longer distance attacks. With a spotter and repeater thy can hit targets at the far edge of the FPV drones flight time.

The distance also explains why you sometimes see them "waste" a drone on an already destroyed target. They are too far out to recover the drone so they make sure the enemy can't use them.
