“What was very shocking was that while we were all in the room discussing and listening to people impacted by what’s happening in Gaza, we’re not certain that that message will get across to the people at the top of the party,” Khader added. “You look at the themes of the party’s convention – today, tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday – there’s nowhere where Palestinians are included in that narrative.”

While the platform condemned former President Donald Trump for refusing to “endorse the political aspirations of the Palestinian people,” it made no divergence from the status quo policy of vetoing UN Security Council resolutions this year that moved towards Palestinian statehood.

While the platform boasts of being opposed to settler violence, it makes no acknowledgment of the International Court of Justice finding the Israeli government’s occupation and illegal expansions of settlements constitute apartheid.

And to that end, while the platform condemns UN efforts that apparently “single out” Israel, and the Boycott, Divest, and Sanctions movement for the same – apparently ignoring the historical precedent of Americans also boycotting and pushing divestment against fossil fuel companies and apartheid South Africa.

Probably because it's the most important political issue of the election. 🙄

Sounds good. Btw can you name a single Republican who supports Palestine? I can only seem to find Democrats. Just want to know when you help the Republicans win :)

There's a bipartisan genocide consensus.

Would you vote for genocide if it was your family being starved and tortured?

Sisterhood of the traveling goalposts, i see.

The goal post is stopping the genocide i.e. the most important issue of the election. Why does it being your family make a difference? That's hardly a new goalpost. 🙄

Why does it being your family make a difference?

Who put these words in my mouth?

[–] [email protected] -4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I assumed you said I was moving the goal posts because I brought your family into this. Now I have no idea what you think the goal posts even are 🤨

You made the claim it's "the most important issue of the election." When asked which Republican you could name that supports Palestine, you deflected and brought in a red herring. Red herrings are the goalpost, sliding along.

The most important issue is the genocide, and when you tried to change the subject I refocused it on the genocide.

The only chance to end the genocide is to pressure Democrats to change their platform. That's it. Voting for Republicans wouldn't help, but protesting Democrats and embarrassing them and threatening to withhold votes unless our demands are met might be able to make progress on this issue.

My concern is genocide. You don't seem to care.

[–] ChronosTriggerWarning 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Trump encouraged your genocide. Cheered it on. Told them to continue it for personal gain....

But mum's the word. Biden bad. So, unless you're condemning Trump for his incredibly worse actions in this while situation, i gotta say, you don't seem to care.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's because there is a bipartisan genocide consensus. I already acknowledged that.

The goal of pressuring Democrats through our voices and votes is to break the bipartisan consensus. If protest matters, if voting matters, then this pressure campaign will have results. We already forced Biden out of the campaign - what else can we do?

I dunno. Condemning Trump for interfering in a CEASEFIRE DEAL would be a fine start. Just cos he's "not in office" doesn't negate the effect he's having, but you're so myopic you either can't or refuse to see it.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Protesters are condemning Trump, what are you even talking about?

[–] ChronosTriggerWarning 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Commenters. Here. Calling him genocide Joe while ignoring Trump pushing to continue the genocide. It's called hypocrisy.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago

The genocide is being armed by genocide Joe. He's literally responsible for Israel having enough bombs to do this shit.

Trump playing his own part in this genocide is just proof that Democrats would rather lose than stop doing genocide. This genocide benefits Trump and Democrats are supporting it!
