I've put one on my deck and so far I love it!
The steam and ... buttons are raised more than the stock ones, so you can find them better (though there's no "Steam" text on the button, presumably for legal reasons).
Also on the stock deck I had the B button issue where it could get stuck sometimes, no such problem on the Extremerate one.
The fit is also very good, and it feels good in the hand.
I used to have the jsaux back, but I wasn't fond of the metal "heatsink" and the back didnt seem to mate to the front properly, so there was a slightly raised point I had to sand down, though I did prefer the jsaux raised back buttons.
Edit: I will add that having a good heat gun is recommended, and if I had to do it again, I may skip the trackpads, they were harder (for me) to do than the screen, I felt like I was gonna break them. AND the difference in looks is minor since there's a sticky black pad under them.
That's the exact one I want to get for the wife. She had the translucent purple N64 and got nostalgic over that case. Thanks!
Damn that looks good.
I have a dilemma with these and the portable dock (attaches semi-permanently to deck) I just bought since it's just boring black lol
That's amazing looking. I really want one, but don't think I'm willing to make the swap myself.
Might put just the back plate on. I was eyeing the Jsaux ones but didn't like the hotplate.
Yeah, I was hesitant too, but I figured if I screwed up, the most likely part would be the screen.
And if that happened, it'd just be an excuse to get the 1200p screen!
Honestly after seeing how much the 1080p screen hurts performance on the ROG Ally, I've decided I'm very happy with the 800p screen on the deck. I might be able to get some benefit rendering at 800p and upscaling with FSR, but 720p looks pretty great at this size imo.
Oh for sure. I'd have to upscale instead of actually use 1200p, but the colors are supposed to be better so It'd be a nice upgrade for me
Yeah, I didn't even know that screen was a thing until now. Gonna have to keep an eye on that...
I was thinking about getting the green one. I currently have the clear jsaux back but I keep burning my leg on accident from the metal plate. I'm just cautious about the screen although I'm confident I can do it. I have an extremerate shell for my series x controller that I love.
Green is nice looking too, I think if I hadn't had my heart set on atomic purple I would have gone with the opaque blue/purple color shift one.
You should just remove the thermal pad... It will function identically to the stock back with no weirdly hot metal part.
