YouTubers do things that are scripted, and kids like to watch them? What a nothingburger
If you actually watch the entire thing, it's clear that yeah it's not something to cancel over but it's also worth saying. Mr. Beast's brand is all about two things: it's all real and viewers (just by subscribing, interacting) can win a lot of cash or items worth a lot of cash. The next thing to understand is Mr. Beast's main target demographic is children, and that never plays well when it comes to these kinds of things.
Mr. Beast would market his candy bar as more healthy and also if kids buy them they can gamble for a ticket to get a chance to be in a video and win yadda yadda yadda. He says part of his motivation is to defeat obesity, yet his chocolate candy bar had twice the amount of sugar then the competitor he mentions. He isn't altruistic, he's cashing in on these kids and using a FALSE moral high ground to do it!
The more you watch the clearer the picture becomes, and no it's not shocking; Mr. Beast is running a company to make money. Cool, no worries. It's not so cool however when it is based off of manipulating kids. SO MUCH OF HIS VIDEOS are edited, faked, scripted. SO MANY OF THE WINNERS are friends, family, and employees of the company even though it is advertised as random viewers. The editing is done in part to preserve this charade. Later in the video he talks about Mr. Beast wanting to participate in known scams and having to be talked out of them, it's pretty gross (especially keeping in mind the target demo.)
It is essentially reality TV for kids, but this doesn't end at the TV show. It stretches into these kid's candy, the fast food (mr beast burger), the lotteries and gambling, it's a bad look. Mr. Beast is the wrong guy with the right amount of money and it shows. It's weird to see so many people jumping to defend this extremely wealthy person who takes advantage of his viewer base of children.
If this video wasn’t enough for you, try this one next, FAR worse: https://discuss.whatever.social/r/TikTokCringe/comments/1edezhy/the_lowdown_on_mr_beast_beast_games_for_those_out/
