I love that it starts off with wowing your dad so he knows you're ready to learn gun safety. Before getting the gun. Oh how the times have changed.

This is hunting gun that shot lead peper. Still not harmless, but it peper cannot go through wall, so chance you harm someone unintentional is low.

Oh I'm well aware of the capabilities of a bb gun. As were the manufacturers and they led with gun safety and responsibility in their own ad to prove the kid was ready for gun ownership. You don't see that these days. Hell probably not the last two decades at least. This just helps describe a decline in gun owner/manufacturing emphasis on personal responsibility with guns as it led towards fear mongering as a sales strategy.

Every gun owner I've interacted with is incredibly educated on safety. Just because the media portrays gun owners as slack jawed yokels doesn't mean that the majority of gun owners aren't educated.

As much as the media would like to portray it is not one sided. There are plenty of progressives who just want background checks and point of sale laws at a national level.

I don't think it's entirely one sided - there's so much stupidity it makes my brain hurt.

I fear that the NRA and gun fetishism is going to end up restricting firearms enormously and it's entirely because of bullshit like bump stocks, c-mags and 3d printed garbage are going to put more vegas shooters - you remember, Stephen Paddock fired more than 1,000 rounds, killing 60 people[a] and wounding at least 413. The ensuing panic brought the total number of injured to approximately 867 - thanks to easy access for all you need to kill and wound hundreds.
