Being from Québec, it's crazy to me how bad sex education is in the US and how it's even seen as grooming children and stripping them away from their purity.

I got the whole tour in like 5th grade and starting high school you can just ask the nurse for a condom. Even stuff like girls should pee after sex to avoid UTIs, no you can't get pregnant from sitting on a toilet, the usual myths and misconceptions including briefly things you see in porn that you shouldn't do in real life. Morning after pill and abortions too. Because we understand it'll happen, and if you do you might as well do it safely.

Meanwhile the US is like, you shall be punished by STDs and pregnancy you no longer can terminate for your sin of having sex before marriage. It's so insanely regressive. Definitely watched stuff in class that the republicans would say is porn too...

It's the puritanical roots of the country. That bullshit is still hanging around.

We had Sex Ed in 5th grade in TX. It consisted of separating the boys and the girls. The boys learned the names of male anatomy and I'm assuming the girls learned the female anatomy. Then they told us we'd get diseases if we had sex before marriage and gave us a goodie bag. I don't know what the girls got, but the boys got a stick of deodorant, a hand mirror, some shaving cream, and a 2 bladed disposable razor. No instructions on why or how to use them. I guess they assumed us 10 year olds would figure the rest out ourselves.
