garfield is a queer icon and im tired of pretending he's not, he's for the queers who are just a little bit eepy, for the queers who just want to eat and laze about, he's also canonically an enby who goes by he/him pronouns

idk i just decided to make this space for anyone who wants to post garfield memes and general garfield related stuff because there's like only one other garfield comm on lemmy that i could find and its just one guy posting the garfield comic that was released today 45 years ago (unironically pretty cool though ngl)

Rules: all the normal stuff no bigotry, no doxxing, etcetera. I reserve the right to moderate as i see fit but i dont think i'll be too overbearing with it (any bigotry will be pretty harshly modded though)

Question for all the block-happy lemmy users:
Do you notice an increase in average quality of the comments you see over time?
Or comment chains that make no sense cause half the commenters are blocked?
Or is it more like trying to dust off the Sahara?

Occasionally I'll notice that a comment or two is missing because someone I've blocked is replying to a post, but it hasn't really caused me any problems

on lemmy i dont really use it because it screws up comment chains but on twitter and fedi and stuff i go wild with it

Yes. Life is stressful enough without screaming in the void at "Internet debators" with the reading comprehension skills of a meatloaf. Blocking is better than getting hounded by their straw man arguments and trolling. If you don't understand this, you're part of the problem.

It depends on how you use Lemmy. Using an app, or the default/next version of the site? The comments might just be collapsed, or anything else all the way to just not even there whatsoever.

I have noticed a massive decease in subpar low effort trash. My block list is multiple pages long of users and subs. I'd say a huge portion is anything related to sports. Can't stand sports or the people who feel the need to talk about it. The rest is a small trickle of gay promotion or anti gay crap. I don't need to want to hear about people's sexual preferences, or how much hate it. Both sides are unwelcome on my screens.

Life is better with the block features for sure. I know I'm not missing anything.ive had no issues with comments other then the odd 'comment removed' which could be my doing or actual mods. I don't know, nor do I care.its removed for a reason

Good example is in this thread. There's one removed, I assume they are just cancer.
