From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

When I was young, I pirated Adobe apps because I was poor. That piracy by young artists is a big part of why there is an entire generation that uses apps like Photoshop and Illustrator in the same way they breath. We essentially drank Adobe along with the milk in our bottle.

As I've gotten older and started to make more money I've also begun paying for applications, even ones that I've pirated in the past (ex. Zbrush). It's good to support developers.

This kind of thing though is why I still pirate Adobe products. Subscription models and intrusive DRM are pure poison.
