C64 was my first computer. It ignited my passion for technology, and its sound chip was pivotal in guiding me to where I am today. I’m grateful for having grown up with it and for the classic SID composers—like Rob Hubbard, Chris Huelsbeck, Martin Galway, Mark Cooksey, Jeroen Tel, Matt Gray, Tim Follin, Ben Daglish, David Whittaker—who, over 30 years ago, introduced me to chiptune.

Surprise! The G drops an unannounced first single from his upcoming sophomore album with NRW, which is set for 2024!!!

I love seeing random instances of vaporwave influence. I stumbled across this example in the sci-fi/fantasy webcomic series Ava's Demon. It's only for two panels and has nothing to do with the plot at all, but I thought it was a neat cameo.

From the latest album Leather Terror (2022), you must listen both songs, Day Stalker and Night Prowler together, as they are beautifully connected. The first song is a intense crescendo and the second a cathartic climax ! They are definitely my favorite songs of the album, if not my favorite two songs from the artist !

If you don't know Volkor X or you enjoy Postrock and Synthwave, then I recommend you to listen his latest album The Loop. If you can dedicate 1 hours 15 minutes, then listen to the whole album in one go. It's a great atmosphere-building experience combining great music and a short sci-fi audio story with awesome voice acting! Instrumental album is also available. Anyway, Expanse is the title that stands out to me in this album. Please have a listen and see if you are hungry for more !

New song released from GUNSHIP !

I was listening to the radio the other day and did an audio double-take as I could swear I heard vaporwave coming from my speakers. Turns out it was the intro to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, one of the hottest songs of the summer. Another popular song that seems like it might have some subtle vaporwave influences is Saturn by SZA.

What do you think, is this just a coincidence or has the niche phenomenon of vaporwave influenced pop music? What mainstream songs give you synthwave/vaporwave vibes?
