Played Space Hulk's second mission last night as the genestealers. Ton of fun. Compared to the first mission, the board setup was absolutely massive.

In this mission the marines won by either locking down all the genestealer entry points or killing all the genestealers. The genestealers won by killing all the marines. Genestealers didn't have infinite reserves, and lost 1/3 of their blip tokens from the initial pool.

I had early luck as the marine with the assault cannon used a lot of ammo to blow open doors, and then after his reload shoot at a few blips of genestealers before rolling an improbable triple same number, which ressulted in the assault cannon's ammo cooking off and killing the marine.

I tried to leverage this by bringing all my genestealers in on this side of the board. I sent some groups preparing to ambush the thunder hammer and storm shield welding sergeant, and other groups to take out the lone normal terminator.

I paid for my early luck as the lone terminator rolled hit after hit with no jams, completely destroying lines of genestealers. The sergeant moved into the hallway where genestealer laid in wait on both sides and used multiple high numbers of command points to take initiative, destroying clusters of genestealers, then turn around to face a line of attackers. While not ideal, the genestealers had numbers on their side, by the sergeant smashed alien after alien, with none landing a hit on him. That was game.

Fun mission. I wish we'd had time to swap sides, but next play will be mission 3. I have the genestealers in my possession and plan to paint them as fast as I am able.

This is the 3rd edition box set that a friend busted out.

We played the intro mission, aptly named Suicide Mission, twice. First with me as the genestealers and then with the roles reversed.

The first game I started with some luckily huge blips and my friend getting unlucky on the command action bonuses.

He had a lot of trouble getting out of the first room and once in the hallway got buried in genestealers from the front. The marines in front all went down defending the vital flamer marine, but in little time he was left alone to be ripped apart by the chittering hoard.

In the reverse where I played as marines, my sergeant in front made heroic headway, cutting apart the alien filth, even when the desperation of the situation left him cut off.

But even his determination was not enough and he was felled. The marine escorting the flamer marine was overwhelmed after his weapon jammed. The flamer marine was killed and the remaining two marines retreated in failure.

Space Hulk is fun, tense, and very easy to pick up. The models in the 3rd edition box are great, and I’ve even gotten permission to borrow and paint them up when my painting schedule is free, which I’m super excited about.

This is a collaborate project that's been going on for two years on 4chan, and I grabbed a lot of the most up to date files and put them in one google drive link. The game centers around train on train combat in a weird world overrun by supernatural shifting rail lines. Excitied to put this out to share. It looks like a Gaslands style opportunity to make some custom crazy models.

Google Drive link.

When it comes to mythical conflicts, Nottingham is associated with Robin Hood and the wicked sheriff rather than with legions of orcs and goblins.

But some of the universe's largest battles are fuelled by games companies based in the East Midlands city, in an area known as the 'Lead Belt' – a reference to the casting of model soldiers in lead alloy.

The largest of the firms, headquartered in an industrial estate not far from the city centre, is Games Workshop, owner of the Warhammer franchise and the world's largest manufacturer of miniature battle figures.

...

Other companies to have set up shop in the area include The Assault Group, Mantic Games and Wargames Foundry.

Another, Warlord Games, makes a series called Bolt Action which it boasts is one of the world's leading Second World War wargames.

...

The companies that make up the wider 'Lead Belt' account for about 90 per cent of the British wargaming miniatures market. Many supporting businesses are located nearby.

Another epic game of Chain of Command yesterday at my wargaming club. Set in France in 1940, A French chasseur platoon attempted to block the passage of Schutzen Platoon from a Panzer Division. Despite losing two jump off points, the fire from the Chasseurs starting taking a toll on the Germans forcing some elements to pull back. The panzer III advanced and exchanged shots with the Renault R35 until the French tank commander was killed. The panzer III was blinded by a barrage of smoke bombs care of the French mortar team while the French deploy an antitank gun. The panzer pressed ahead but the gun crew scored a hit killing the panzer's driver. One of the French section's broke under concentrated fire from two German sections. The French had fought bravely but their morale was becoming fragile under the German attack.

Sorry not sure why it wants to rotate the picture. Got to play Check Your 6 this weekend d and had a great time, was my first ever game of CY6. Scenario was (I believe) Milk run to Malta. Played on the British side attempting to stop Italian bombers from destroying the airfield at Malta. The game started off with a bang when a green British pilot managed to ram the ace Italian pilot killing both. British narrowly won after all the bombers were shot down but one, who missed their bombs on the airfield and was promptly shot down by the airfields AA installations

A few shots of a game of Chain of Command I played recently. A Soviet Tank Rider platoon tried to capture a building on the outskirts of a shelled town. The Soviet pre-game barrage lifted after the second phase of the game, allow the German platoon to deploy and defend the assault. I was my first time playing with an Elite force and with mostly armed with SMGs. I discovered how useful smoke grenades can be!

What are you currently hooked on? Fantasy? Sci-Fi? Historical?

Came back to wargaming after a looooong break and got back in with OnePageRules' Warfleets beta. Been playing a lot of that with the couple people I've roped into playing with me. Currently drowning in STLs from patreon subs that need printing/painting for when I get around to trying Grimdark Future but I haven't found any other players nearby so far, just lots of Malifaux and 40k players.

I played a three-way match of Warfleets once with about ~25 ships on the field plus all their accompanying squadrons--which is a respectable game with each fleet being a little on the larger size. With only 4 rounds in a game normally, you'd expect things to be pretty cut-and-dry as to who will win after the first couple rounds but in this meat-grinder of a game it all came down to one singular morale roll at the end of round 4. Every other ship had been wiped from the board and the only deciding factor on whether it was a three-way draw or a win for one of the players was a 4+ on a 6-sided die on the last remaining ship carrying a scoring objective.

He made it!

Been playing a lot of the beta rules lately trying out all the different factions available and having a good time. Rules are simple but surprisingly still lead to a complex game; feels a bit like chess in space as movement/positioning is arguably more important than just rolling well and poor deployment/manoeuvring can really bone you. There are additional optional rules that allow you to play with mechanics cribbed from Battlefleet Gothic, Dropfleet, and Star Wars Armada.
