I got to Record Riot every time they are in Cleveland. It's a good time to hang out with friends and browse some cool collections. Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space was everything i hoped it would be, and Dreamboat Annie is an absolute banger of an album. I've also been dying to get my Fog On The Tyne to wrap up my Lyndisfarne collection, since my mom was growing up in Newcastle when they were big.

Does anyone know a place to buy used vinyl other than Discogs. I have been using them for a long time and they have really enshittified the experience.

I am absolutely thrilled with this lot but positively jubilant about the Kraftwerk maxi!

Lucky find, F13 part 4, my favorite part btw, on a double gatefold LP pressed in 45 RPM.

This arrived yesterday in both vinyl and cd form. Norways best rock band delivers on their 7th album, it’s a contender for album of the year for me.

And yes, it plays at 33rpm, weirdly. The songs are You’ll be there for me / When you’re gone.

I was pleasantly surprised with this record when it came out of the jacket. This is sexy! Colored vinyl will always get my money.

Here's mine.

It's a Rega RP1 with just about every Groovetracer mod, a double pully, and the 24v motor swapped in (with the external power supply). That goes to my Schiit Mani, and then that goes into the main system, which is a big ol pile of Schiit. A Freya+ with two Vidar monoblocks.

The speakers are a pair of Klipsch RP 600M II's.

Just new stuff this time. They had a sale, get 3 for a fixed price. And these looked like fun: Carpenter Brut / Leather Terror - synthwave, moody and cinematic. Cabaret Voltaire / The covenant, the sword and the arm of the lord - I’ve known of this group but never really listened to them, time to change that! And finally Warsaw/ this is early, early Joy Division stuff and just really great.

The most interesting to me was Swans cover of Love will tear us apart. Soothing!

God I live singles! 🤩

Kite 1 and 4 (swedish synthpop), the new remastered Opus Dei from Laibach, and an original maxi of Life is life. Sepulchre inc. was a short-lived (this is their only release) swedish Skinny Puppy-sound a like. All in all a good catch!

For my next few posts, I will now start showing the really juicy records I was able to get. Over the weekend, I went to a record show in Philadelphia, and I was able to pull some absolute heaters from the sellers there. The biggest of these finds for me would definitely have to be the Mort Garson records I found, in particular an original 1976 copy of Mother Earth's Plantasia (with the Simmons mattress sticker on the front).

Ever since I started collecting, on my Discogs I have my wantlist of items that I am looking for, and its up into the thousands now. Plantasia was one of the first 5 records in that list. I love this record to death and it has been an everlasting quest to find this record for the collection. Now the quest is complete. I was also happy that it included the extra booklet that comes with the album, so I have a complete package.

The Wozard of Iz was also a very good find from this show, as that is one of the weirder records in the Mort Garson canon, but Plantasia is what takes the spotlight from these finds today.

Found this used but still not what I would call cheap. Another great album anyway!

Both are movie-themed. I wish I had seen the Belmondo one, it looks like a cool Rambo rip-off. Its a generic action theme very much in the Raiders of the lost ark vein. Viva La Muerte is a surreal movie with a surprisingly fitting theme, a child spouts non-sense and sings in danish (some would argue its the same thing). It must have been incredibly niche even at the time.
