Participation is really easy, just take a picture of what you cooked today and post it, no recipes needed.

This is a public forum for a discord server of friends who are all vegans and cook at home for their families.

We are here to share some inspiration, to see what others are doing and to stay engaged in something that is both our hobby and a required task.

This forum is not a "food porn" community, a recipe book or a place to teach you how to cook. It is a place for people who already cook to meet other people like themselves and provide on topic support and conversation as much as long distance friends on the internet can do. We are doing show and tell about what we made and we don't care about its instagram worthiness.

Veganism isn’t a diet but I have to eat every day. This is for the vegan home cooks. Anything non vegan will be deleted.

Rules

1. Be Vegan.

If it is not vegan it doesn’t belong here… or anywhere.

2. Post home cooking.

No restaurant or fast food. This is what every other vegan space is about and we don’t want to promote any large or small business tyrants.

3. Join the Discord

We’re an active community of vegan home cooks that like to talk about what we are cooking today.

4. Do not make any rude comments or digs at anyone’s food, cooking style, specific diet, restrictions or technique.

While we are all cooks, we all have different requirements and we’re not asking for help, we are doing show and tell.

5. Do not use trademarked brands

Use generic names. We’re cooking with tvp not whatever business brands it and we’re not trying to turn comrades into billboards. No plant-based vegan-pandering capitalist crap like Impossible, Beyond, Dairy-company owned “vegan” cheese.

6. Do not ask for a recipe without otherwise engaging the OP (No posts that are just “recipe?”)

We are not food bloggers. Sometimes we're excited to share and will tell you the recipes we used but this isn't required. Instead try doing your own research and tell us what you learned and we can talk about it.

7. Careful with making unasked for suggestions.

Sometimes we like to hear suggestions but you should be nice about it and know the person you are making suggestions to. We are in the discord and you can get to know us that way. If you are just a visitor from the fediverse, this isn’t the place for you to start telling other people what to do.

8. Adults Only.

While this isn't a community for adult material we expect everyone who participates to be an adult. If you have a gross and profane username you will be removed.

Kidney beans and green beans in a tomato maple sauce with edamame on rice. Some BBQ sauce too because why not?

I grew and canned the green beans and canned the tomato sauce 🌱

Homemade Burger Buns based on this recipe, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, homemade burger sauce and a not-homemade patty I wanted to try.

Was a mix of dry herbs and spinach I stewed with some red beans and served over rice. I guess it was really bright because the rice looks washed out in the pic lol

Onion + Garlic + Sweet Potato + Carrot + Zucchini + Eggplant + Tofu (+ leftover Parsley just to get rid of it)

1\2 jar Massaman Curry paste, 2 cans Coconut Milk

Brown Rice with dried Mung Beans in it because they have the same cooking time and then you can smuggle beans into more meals! (Don't forget your beans people!!)

I've been slowly adding more and more veggies through experimentation, but now I'm at the point where I either need to use bigger tortillas or just be more picky about which veggies I want 😅 this is the configuration I'm using right now, though in the summer I like to use avacado instead of sauce.

I heat the tortillas in a pan with a light coat of walnut oil and black pepper and assemble my fixins in the pan itself.

Sauce is also homemade! I save all the vinegar from pickled jalapenos and then mix that with equal parts coconut oil in a heated pan, then combine it with whatever seasoning I'm feeling like during that batch (rn I'm using nooche, though sometimes I go for an onion sauce or mustard). It's not super precise so there's no recipe, I've just got a feel from experimentation.

Also the fake-on bits are actually a cheap local veriety I've found. Basically just smoke and salt flavored crunchy soy chips.

Once I'm done, I pack up my chopped veggies to do this again in a couple days. I usually make four at a time every two days, and these are my pre-shift and mid-shift work meals. Served with a thicc pea protein chocolate drink.

in the morning i put a cup of black beans with lots of seasonings and blasted them for an hour in the pressure cooker. I also set up the rice cooker with rice and some frozen mixed vegetables.

There are blended white beans in the chocolate sauce, give a nice texture when blended with soy milk, cocoa powder and brown sugar.

Kidney beans and rice with taco seasoning, caramelized onion and garlic, and I found out I can get dried habaneros near me! Definitely growing those this year, I forgot how good they are (haven't had any since before the pandemic 🥲 )

Also that Perrona sauce is... okay. It's really sweat, throws off everything. Also not nearly as spicy as I was hoping! It's a cool color, you can't really tell but it's actually green, but it just didn't hurt me the way I like 😌

TVP chili mac (lemmy.world)

I blasted tvp chunks with water, tomato paste, soy sauce, smoked paprika, maple syrup, salt, pepper, chili flakes in the instant pot for like 50 minutes. Then I added macaroni, carrots, potatoes, celery, (onion and garlic) and cooked it together on saute mode. It was super good, I actually stirred in silken tofu to make it creamy then forgot to take pictures
