A truly classic bit from George taken from the 2005 HBO special "Life is Worth Losing."

  1. But there’s a reason.
  2. There’s a reason.
  3. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed.
  4. It’s never gonna get any better.
  5. Don’t look for it.
  6. Be happy with what you got.
  7. Because the owners of this country don’t want that.
  8. I’m talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.
  9. Forget the politicians.
  10. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice.
  11. You don’t.
  12. You have no choice.
  13. You have owners.
  14. They own you.
  15. They own everything.
  16. They own all the important land.
  17. They own and control the corporations.
  18. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear.
  19. They got you by the balls.
  20. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want.
  21. Well, we know what they want.
  22. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking.
  23. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking.
  24. They’re not interested in that.
  25. That doesn’t help them.
  26. Thats against their interests.
  27. Thats right.
  28. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago.
  29. They don’t want that.
  30. You know what they want?
  31. They want obedient workers.
  32. Obedient workers.
  33. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money.
  34. They want your retirement money.
  35. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something?
  36. They’ll get it.
  37. They’ll get it all from you, sooner or later, 'cause they own this fucking place.
  38. It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.
  39. You and I are not in the big club.
  40. And by the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe.
  41. All day long beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy.
  42. The table is tilted folks.
  43. The game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.
  44. Good honest hard-working people – white collar, blue collar, it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on – good honest hard-working people continue – these are people of modest means – continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don’t give a fuck about them.
  45. They don’t give a fuck about you.
  46. They don’t give a fuck about you.
  47. They don’t care about you at all – at all – at all. And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.
  48. That’s what the owners count on; the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes everyday.
  49. Because the owners of this country know the truth: it’s called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

Since October 7th, the corporate media has done its best to mask Israel's genocide. These stories have not been innocent mistakes or, at best, biased reporting on past events. They have been powerful weapons in the hands of the Israeli army, strategically used in critical moments as complements to military moves. Few independent journalists have tried to debunk these stories and unmask this genocidal war for what it is. The Grayzone is one such organization, and Max Blumenthal is one of the examples of such journalists.

In this episode of Palestine Talks, we speak to writer and activist Chris Hedges as he discusses the philosophical nature of the evil underlying Israel’s violence against the Palestinian people, and the radical dehumanisation of Palestinians based on his own troubling experience covering stories in war zones.

He also discusses how American media, paralleling the propaganda of the Israeli lobby, deliberately trivialises such violence and misleads the public.

As Hedges points out, this reflects how such media including outlets that enjoy a “liberal” or “progressive” reputation like The New York Times “embraces American militarism”, contemptuous of both human life and the possibility of peace grounded in actual principles of justice.

George Galloway is one of Britain’s most formidable political campaigners. He has been elected as a member of parliament for four separate constituencies - winning on three occasions while not standing for a major political party.

Earlier this year saw him elected as the MP for Rochdale. That success was, in no small part, because of Galloway’s position on Gaza - and his outspoken criticism of Israel.

But was that merely the swan song in a rollercoaster political career? Or the beginning of something much bigger?

Could George Galloway’s Workers Party of Great Britain become a genuine threat to the Labour Party - particularly on issues of foreign policy - over the years to come?
