If text has been entered into the field when composing a comment, backing out should give some warning before what was written is deleted.

Feed loops back on itself. (lemmy.procrastinati.org)

Does anyone else have a problem where the feed loops back on itself. I'll scroll a handful of posts and then start seeing repeats. I've scrolled up to confirm they're the exact same post (not cross posts, or dupes).

I was looking forward to trying Sync today now that it's live, but my enthusiasm was immediately dampened after seeing the "Data Safety" section on the Google Play store.

Liftoff has been great, and want to say thanks for making an awesome app. This will continue to be my daily driver.

Edit: for clarity, because the post got way bigger than I expected.

Sync looks like a fantastic app, and the dev/s should charge whatever they feel is fair for their efforts, even if that's through the usual ads + ad tracking.

My intent was just to post here in /c/Liftoff to thank the Liftoff devs for managing to somehow offer an awesome app without any of that.

App is great now. And I like being able to add other instances and being able to view all or local from that instance to find new communities to subscribe too.

Only thing I've been missing has been blocking is only effective for the instance or instances you are logged into, so having something that filters everything without account dependency would be great.

Would be great with an option to show large thumbnails for links. Usually the link text is also shown as a body in the post, so it becomes redundant.

I find this to be one of the best app to post contents, there are just a couple thing to fix.

  • I can't post images too big (I mean by height or length, not too heavy). I think it is because of the editor, be able to disable it from the setting should do.
  • I can't create hyperlinks. Before I had issue with more of one hyperlink per post but now the function didn't seems to work at all.

[OPTIONAL] The thumbnail in the full height card view mode helps a lot but a full size thumbnail would be even better for the scrolling experience 👌

I have been looking in settings, but somehow I can’t find a setting to show link previews for URLs instructions instead of just a copy of the title with a frame around it.

If that is not a feature yet, I would like to request it. All other Lemmy apps I am currently testing show link preview, so the Liftoff timeline looks kinda weird.

Other than that I really like the clean UI design!

Does the mobile app allow upload of gifs and videos? It seems to take stills of a gif, and no videos in folders when searching for file via liftoff.

I might be doing it wrong. Looking for advice and/or confirmation

In the screenshot you can see several posts from the same community shown as coming through two logged in accounts. Does it just randomly choose which account, first come first displayed, something else?

The idea behind multiple accounts is so my feed remains mostly usable when an instance goes down. The first one I signed up to (lemmy.one) went down after it upgraded and hasn't yet come back, the second one has been up and down (lemmy.world) and I decided to sign up to 4 total for redundancy, and because eventually there will be a way to tie the accounts together in a cohesive way.

it's difficult to read with sans-serif. Will it be possible soon to choose the default font ?

Posts are not being marked as read after opening them or there is no indication that they have already been opened.

Android 12.

Just upgraded to 0.10.10 and I can't seem to block communities from the infinite scroll any more.

I can tap the community avatar and block it from the community screen.

However, when I try to block from the initial post with the vertical "..." icon, I see the popup menu, but choosing to block the community does not result in the brief Toast stating the community has been blocked, ~~nor does it get added to the Block list.~~

Edit: I think it is being added to the Block list sometimes, but the Toast is definitely not popping.

My android device just got version 0.10.10 via the Play Store but the GitHub is still on .09. Just wondered what the change was in the update?

First, I just wanted to say that this app is amazing and has everything I want. I love the swipe back function, so it would be awesome if I could also swipe back from when I open the link in the built in browser.

91

Pretty much as the title says, the ability to pin or sticky pose on communities that I moderate would be really nice. At the moment I need to switch to the browser mode in order to pin or unpin posts but being able to do it straight through liftoff would be really good

Images act like they're going to upload, but most of the time they don't. Sometimes I'll get lucky after a few retries.

I've been swapping to a different app for posting, while I prefer this one for everything else.

93

I like to scroll "all" to find new communities and it would be helpful with an indication of whether I'm subbed to a posts community or not. I can't remember this, so I've clicked in and checked on the same community like eight times today...

When someone answers to my message under a post I want to look at my message again to get context again.

The only way I have found this possible is by clicking on the three dots and then "view on another instance" and click on my own instance.

Is there a better way I'm missing?

95

Here's an example:

spoilerI'm an actual human being.

Yeah, this doesn't really work.

96

Is there a reason why clicking on a post image will immediately cause it to download? This is making me nervous to click on anything.

97

It seems only happen occasionally with liftoff. No other app. I think it could be too many connections when trying to pull it a lot of communities from all. Has anyone else experienced this ?

98

The user @[email protected] has been banned, and their absurd list of communities are (I think?) removed, but you would not know that looking at their user page.

This maybe because they were a lemmy.world user, and I'm viewing from a sh.itjust.works account. I'm not altogether clear to what extent this is a app issue/instance issue/this particular account issue.

  • on liftoff, I see a long list of modded communities with various names
  • on the lemmy.world web interface, I see a note that the user is banned, and most (but not all) of their communities are listed as 'serverhold'
  • on the sh.itjust.works web interface, there's no note that the user is banned, but also no modded communities

Im guilty of accasionally expanding an NSFW photo to satisfy curiosity, but once it's open I can't figure out how to collapse it again without scroling past it a bit. Is this the only way or am I missing an easier gesture to re-collapse it?
