I’ve been searching around for a couple of days to see if anyone noticed this. In Halo S02E07 around the 38 minute mark, Talia Perez is staring at her reflection just before Master Chief walks in to talk to her. Over the loud speaker, you can hear someone say “Tango-Hotel-Xray-one-one-three-eight”. (headphones helps) That’s a classic reference to George Lucas’ early film THX-1138. Used heavily throughout the Star Wars universe and many other films.

The Insignia.Live team has reverse engineered the Bungie Halo 2 servers, meaning that anyone with an Xbox and Halo 2 can play once again!

You must have an Xbox or use an Xbox emulator, this will not work on 360 or any other BC.

From u/Lyricalthunder on Reddit:

Introducing https://spartan.report. Now in public preview for desktop!

Spartan Report is a web app I’ve been writing up for the past couple of months. It lets you track/view upcoming seasons, view average xp/min of your match history, and lets you create custom armor kits!

Here’s how to create a custom kit:

  1. Visit https://spartan.report
  2. Click Sign In (You will be authenticated by Microsoft. I do not store any account credentials)
  3. Once your signed in, hover/click on the new “Spartan” tab
  4. Mouse over to “Armory”
  5. View your entire armor suite and create custom kits! There’s a small pop up tour that explains the basics on how to use the app.

For the custom kits, you can set custom names, chose which image to have the custom kit use, and of course equip the custom kit. You do not need to be on the core you created the custom kit on. Custom kits will show up at all times and if you click on a kit that uses a different core than what you have equipped currently, Spartan report will automatically equip the new core for you. No extra work is needed on your end.

NOTE: this is a PUBLIC PREVIEW. There WILL be bugs, crashes, and lag. Some times, the site may also be offline for upgrades/fixing! This is my first time creating UI for a web app so please go easy on me :,). Currently, the site will not play nice on mobile browsers unfortunately. Don’t worry! That is the next area of attention and I plan to patch it soon!

The site is completely free to use. Eventually in the future I will be open sourcing all elements so for the tech savvy people out there — you can see how this site actually works!

Enjoy Spartans! This is an ask the community has wanted for a while and (I hope) Spartan report helps!

I do want to point out that despite the website being free to use for all, I will still end up paying for server/development/hosting costs. If you enjoy using Spartan report, there is a little “donate” link on the bottom left of the footer. Anything to help offset server costs will help the site grow and be more performant. You can chose to donate any amount via PayPal or Patreon <3

The newest Halo novel, Halo: Epitaph, written by Kelly Gay released today, February 27, 2024.

Spoiler discussion is allowed, but please mark spoilers as needed.

Summary:

Stripped of armor, might, and memory, the legendary Forerunner warrior known as the Didact was torn from the physical world following his destructive confrontation with the Master Chief and sent reeling into the mysterious depths of a seemingly endless desert wasteland. This once powerful and terrifying figure is now a shadow of his former self—gaunt, broken, desiccated, and alone. But this wasteland is not as barren as it seems. A blue light glints from a thin spire in the far distance…

Thus begins the Didact’s great journey—the final fate of one of the galaxy’s most enigmatic and pivotal figures.

I don't want to put any details before more people have seen it, but this is an episode that started to really paint the picture of what we should expect going forward. Ton of action and some unexpected character deaths really created the feeling of actual stakes. I'll put some other opinions in the following spoilers:

::: spoiler The absence of the spartan armor felt like a budgetary play more than anything else. Like they wanted to spend the money on the Covenant CGI and had to cut from somewhere else. :::

::: spoiler Unless they decide to stray from the games completely, I don't believe that Keyes is dead. They do a good job of only assuming his death and not showing it. Vannack's death shocked me. I believe his character is exclusive to the Silver timeline, but still made me gasp :::

So far I have seen elites and hunters get called in, they have a health bar above their heads and show as friendly colors.

First MCC update of the year starting off with Halo 2 classics hit registration being worked on, maybe it'll be like 'exactly like it was when it released'. Halo 3 mods need to be rebuilt for this update as well.

The maps are Fortitude, Insolence, Obituary, Refuge, and Thunderhead

What’s everyone thinking so far?

Sangheili CGI looks way better though Spartan animation seems to have taken a hit. Active camo makes the Sangheili seem way more terrifying.

Story seems more interesting especially knowing we’re heading in to the Fall of Reach. I appreciate the story starting to dive into the divide between ONI and UNSC.

Hopefully the rest of the season stays strong.
