Feel free to post music, discussion, memes, articles and anything else related to the Grateful Dead or the band members' side projects.

Only a couple quick rules, I think most should be obvious anyway:

  1. Stay on topic - keep posts Dead related
  2. Keep disagreements civil
  3. No NSFW (pornographic) content
  4. No racist, sexist, bigoted or violent content
  5. No politics (unless something is directly related to the band or its members) or other deliberately divisive topics
  6. Above all else, be kind, ain't no time to hate

This is my all-time favorite acoustic Jerry.

I was lucky enough to be at both shows. I’ve seen variations of the post Jerry band maybe 15 times since 2004, but somehow the last two shows were the best. I’ve been listening to both all week. Hard to believe I might never see them again.

For a week, 5,000 students had occupied five buildings on the Morningside Heights campus, protesting the university’s connection to the military industrial complex and it plans to build a gym in Morningside Park, a public park in the mostly African-American neighborhood next to campus. Police had forcibly removed the strikers from the buildings the days prior to their arrival, but the entire campus was in a sort of “lockdown” with police and guards denying access to the majority of the campus. This gave legendary tour manager Rock Skully an idea. Never one to shy away from confrontation and always the promoter, he got ahold of the strike organizers and offered to hold a free show on the campus. Knowing the police would never permit this, the band and their equipment had to be smuggled in. “Just think of the publicity,” I’m sure Skully thought. ” San Francisco’s Grateful Dead fooling the cops to play for New York student radicals.” The band members, also not ones to shy away from the spotlight of the fuzz, Merry Pranskter blood running through their veins, thought this was a great idea. Both the Grateful Dead and their equipment made it from the outskirts of campus to Low Library Plaza in the heart of campus in the back of a bread delivery truck, and they were already set up and playing before the security and police could mobilize to stop it.

Wish I had taken some videos (or even just a photo or two) myself, but here's a great clip from Dead & Co in Philly the other night. Anyone else here go to the show or see them on this tour? They are sounding better than they have in a while imo

A Grateful Dead cover band from Tokyo who truly embody the spirit of the band.

I'd have to go with the stereotypical spring of 77 but spring 90 is also a huge contender.

almost impossible for me to choose a favorite from Workingman's Dead, every song is so unique and special in its own way, if I had to pick I'd go with Dire Wolf.

Which do you like better? Jerry is in great form and love, love the backing band on this show, even without Melvin. They really tied the show together.
