anyone else a data nerd about their fragrances?

i'd love to hear what details you keep track of and how!

for me, some of the most useful data are:
- source (e.g., online platform or person's name)
- estimated fill level at time of acquisition (i often get partial bottles)
- cost/mL
- bottle's full volume
- size (sample, mini, travel, full)
- dispenser (atomizer, splash, dabber vial, applicator wand)
- date decanted
- date gifted or returned to someone
- date emptied

Let's say, less than 100USD for 50ml. Oils or clone houses also okay!

Hi!! This is my first post so please be nice. I must live under a rock cuz I learned yesterday that Melanie Martinez has a fragrance called, well, title. Can’t find it anywhere. Learned it was discontinued. 😩😢 so I found a dupe called Sweet Strawberry Milk from MIIMICK. Has anyone smelled it? Or do y’all have the og? Are they dupes?

I’ve always worn fragrances, but always just went with something relatively cheap. I was a fan of CK one for a long time, it was always a reasonable price and had a light, fresh scent imho.

Recently I’d been using Sex Panther which despite being essentially a novelty Anchorman tie-in was actually ok, certainly it didn’t smell like a turd covered in burnt hair.

The Sex Panther ran out so I thought maybe I should actually spend some money on a “proper” fragrance.

I decided to go with Sauvage Elixir as a number of people had said it was pleasant and long lasting and it does indeed smell very nice. But bloody hell it’s not cheap. Even with a discount it came in at over £100 for 60ml.

I’ve today purchased the Sauvage EDT so I have a lighter fragrance too (the difference in the two is quite marked). The EDT is also half the price of the Elixir so I can maybe use it day to day and save the Elixir for more formal occasions.

I’d be happy to hear of any recommendations people may have for other fragrances (although I’m not planning on going too mad and building up a massive collection).

So I’ve been into fragrances for about 2 years now, maybe a bit longer. I’ve had about 110 fragrances, that’s counting samples and decants as well. I usually go from sample > decant > full bottle. But sometimes I skip the decant, if a 30ml bottle is an option.

I usually pick 5 bottles to rotate for a while, and switch one when I feel like wearing something else. The added picture is of the current rotation.

Here are some short reviews of my current collection, sorted from highest to lowest. Disclaimer: I know nothing about perfume.

Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man Parfum - 9 My first fragrance when I “got into” fragrances, and still my highest rated. I love the spicy smell and I feel like a cool dude when I wear it

Tried the EDP as well and that one sucked.

Maison Alhambra Kismet Angel - 9 This one I absolutely love, it’s really close to Angels Share. Must say I’ve only smelled that one in the store. I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. Sweety goodness in a bottle.

Emporio Armani Stronger With You Absolutely - 8.5 Chestnut sweetness and warmth. There’s a note in here that reminds me of Kismet Angel.

Emporio Armani Stronger With You Intensely - 8.5 Quite close to Absolutely, but somewhat less heavy. Love the sweet and “wintery” vibe it gives off.

Bvlgari Man in Black - 8.5 Spicy, woody and sweet. Absolutely love this one. The bottle looks cool but the atomizer sucks.

Dolce & Gabbana The One for Men - 8.5 This one is funny. I liked the decant, but when I got the full bottle all I got was this lipstick/bandaid type of smell. After wearing it a few times I fell in love with it.

Tom Ford Ombré Leather EDP - 8 Lovely, soft leather smell with some sweetness to it. Tried Amber & Leather and Rare Carbon, but they had a sour smell to it. I’d rate those both 6/10, they come close but they’re not close on the right notes, if that makes sense. I like the parfum even more, but that one is soooo expensive :(

Lattafa Ameer Al Oudh Intense - 8 Lovely, very sweet and heavy on the vanilla and incense. Nobody around me likes this scent so I only wear it when I’m alone. Feels like a cozy and warm scent.

Al Rehab Choco Musk - 8 Makes you smell edible, like cocoa butter. Great fragrance, especially for the price. Got it for around 8 bucks on Amazon.

Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco - 8 I had this one and the Paris Corner Tobacco Vanille. I prefer this one, because it has some spicy notes as well. I’ve tried Tom Fords Tobacco Vanille (sample) but for the price I prefer Amber Oud.

Afnan 9pm - 8 Love it. Very nice, fresh scent. This makes me think of being on vacation. I get a rash when I wear this so that sucks a bit.

Armaf Sillage - 8 One of the first fragrances I got when I started collecting. Love it, it’s very strong. Can smell this on me for the entire day and sometimes even the day after. I especially like the metallic smell it has.

Paco Rabanne 1 Million Elixir - 7.5 Very heavy on the vanilla, but I like it.

Lattafa Asad - 7 People say this is close to Dior Sauvage Elixir, but I don’t really get that. But I’ve only smelled Sauvage Elixir in stores, have never had a bottle of it. I do like the smell of this, but it’s so strong I’ll get sick of it after wearing it for a few hours.

Tommy - 7 Used to wear this all the time when I was a teenager, now when I smell it, it reminds me of when I was younger. Also a nice fresh scent, perfect for summer.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Forever - 7 Very fresh, grapefruit summer smell. Love smelling the fragrance, but don’t like it that much on myself. Probably will sell this one.

Antonio Banderas the Icon - 6.5 Bought this a while back at the airport, before my vacation. The smell is kind of generic, but it reminds me of that specific holiday, that’s why I kept this one.

Davidoff Cool Water - 6 Reminds me of the first fragrance I ever had when I was like 12 or 13, and got the aftershave version for my birthday. Used to be my one and only fragrance, a few years later Tommy took its place.

Lattafa Khamrah - 6 I thought I’d absolutely love this one, but it’s okay. A bit much if you ask me. Does not smell like Angels Share at all.

That is all. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
