I think it might be useful for some. Especially for those who prefer their notes and highlights well organized.

I'm coming from an Kindle Paperwhite but looking to getting a new one since I cracked the screen. So I'm interested in suggestions! I liked my old one for what it was, but I could find myself missing being able to take notes comfortably.

I have a kindle scribe and boox Note air 2+

I switch between them but I agree with the writer, it’s so slow to move through a lot of the menus.

Hi, I work in software and I'm trying to find ways to reduce eye strain in my work and studies. Specially because I'm starting my thesis right now. While I have some ebooks, the vast majority of the time I'm reading documentation on the web, on a terminal or IDE. I do read ebooks but that's a tiny percentage of the time.

I've mainly looked at boox so I'm basing this off of their available lineup. But I'm super open to alternatives.

I'm torn on which device to get, specially on size. the 10" with a keyboard (definetly not the keyboard case though) sounds amazing to SSH into my computer and be able to properly write code that way. But it's way too big to use as an auxiliary device for quick notes or web browsing when I'm at my desk with a kb + mouse + laptop. For that more handheld, quick handwritten notes with the option for web use, reading docs and that sort of stuff, the 7" really seems like the ideal size (I use an ipad mini for this currently and its great, I've tried the 10.2" and it wasn't a great experience).

There's also the matter of color. I added a grayscale filter on my computer and syntax highlighting still works well, though the color boox devices have a higher resolution overall so I may as well spring for one of those.

As for budget, $600 is pushing it. A caveat, I'm not in the US, so I don't know if that amazon super lenient return policy works here. I want to get the right one off the bat. Also, I'm aware of the pine note. If it were available it would be a no brainer, but I need something sooner.

Those of you with experience, hopefully with the same usecases, I'd love to get feedback>

I think the title says it all.

I saw a mention of an Omnivore integration I might check out, but it depends on Pocket still at least existing in the OS, and I would prefer to stay up to date. That and I am already proxying the Store through Calibre-web.

Context

I've been a long time user of the Amazon Kindle, starting with the first ever one with the physical side buttons, all the way to the Paperwhite 8th gen. While I had been very happy with it, a few things happened recently that pushed me towards getting this:

• The whole issue with Reddit kind of made me realize that I didn't want to trust a company with all my books, no matter how big or trustworthy the company seemed. All my eBooks so far have been bought from the Amazon store, and read on my Kindles.
• I bought a Note Air 2 Plus a few months ago, and it was a really good device for my needs
• Onyx released the Page

Initial thoughts on Onyx Page

• It's very light, and very thin. It doesn't feel cheap or anything, but it feels lighter than my Paperwhite despite this having a slightly larger screen
• The page turning buttons are really nice, and having a side bezel I can hold on to while reading is also very comfortable
• The back is a bit glossier than I would've liked. It's just smooth, and a big fingerprint magnet
• The graphical art they have on the back is not indented or whatever the opposite of indentation is. It feels more like something they've etched onto the surface

Closing thoughts?

I've spent the last few hours trying this and that, downloaded the Kindle app to read (probably) my last Amazon store bought Kindle book. I will be spending the next few hours porting my Kindle books into Calibre, removing the DRM and storing them in my personal cloud :)

I don't think there have been any reviews out there yet, so feel free to ask me anything regarding this, and I'll try my best to answer them.

Looks like direct upgrades for the Nova C and Leaf 2!

Can Eink (talking purely b&w) gain anymore features besides higher ppi? Color seems to be the direction many are going but it just had me thinking. What do you think?
