I decided to make a post announcing the instance, but I got like 500 downvotes and 200 comments. One of them was Dessalines saying something like: "What the hell are you doing?" and people were just being mean, saying I did it all wrong and I should never touch a computer again. I got confused at the overreaction 😅

i was traveling for work and they let me take some time off and paid for a rental car. i waited all day in the seedy rental car office and they gave me this tiny one-seat race car.

I tried to leave but couldn't get the car into gear so they gave me this ugly, monstrous motorcycle. Twenty feet long, leaking fluids and very wide tires. It doesn't respond to steering or manual controls and just goes where it wants.

The bike takes me into the car rental place and down several flights of stairs. I'm riding through the hallway of a deep underground movie theater and I don't want to see a movie. I want to get on the highway and go home for a break. I finally find an elevator and I just ride over some people to get in and push buttons to go up.

i ride to the top of a parking garage and find a place to get fuel on the top level. I lose the fuel cap and gasoline is spraying everywhere. the guy from the car rental place is now off duty, here on his way home, and laughing at me.

the bike smells bad. i can't "smell in dreams", but I just know that it's foul.

i find the fuel cap and try to leave but the parking garage is like a Borg cube/ferry in a river traveling somewhere and I can't control the bike. I ride off the edge and my stomach flips as I'm falling but I don't land in water, I land on a walkway over the water.

the walkway leads me to a narrow airport concourse.

and it just went like that, always falling like a hundred feet to a light rail track, riding that into an outdoor weed festival and asking for directions to get out of Tennessee, only to just constantly wind up somewhere else inappropriate for this ridiculous motorcycle

I don't dream. By that I mean like 2-4 a year, but when I do they are weird. The most I've ever had was when I had a repeating dream like 3 nights in a row. Last night was one of the nights when I did dream.

So me and my dad went to a car dealership and bought a motorcycle and a cybertruck. We like to buy used cars and drive them till death to save the 'new' tax. We also wouldn't buy a motorcycle so this started off extremely strange. Anyways, I started driving the cybertruck home (it was nighttime) and I guess fell asleep at the wheel because I woke up while driving.

I am 17 and have only been driving for ~1.5 years so driving is still very scary for me, falling asleep at the wheel was extra terrifying. Some more background, my first car (a green 2016 Kia soul 💚) has recently had the ABS and anti-slip thing warning lights turn on and off randomly, always together. My oil change is in like a week and the break fluid is probably low and nothing feels different so I was told to keep driving to school/work with it till I can get an oil change.

Back to the dream, while I was freaking out nearly crying because I fell asleep, the car somehow turned into me driving the motorcycle and going 15 over the limit at 75mph. The road I was on was going to turn into a city soon so I started slowing down, but my brakes didn't work (flashback to my IRL warning light). I started freaking out trying all sorts of stuff to slow down like wiggling back and forth on the road or pulling the emergency break (idk if motorcycles even HAVE e-brakes) but nothing was really working. I don't remember how but somehow I managed to get it down to 15mph and bailed off in some empty lot in the city.

At this point I realized it was a dream and I was like explaining it to my family the next day and laughing about it. THEN I ACTUALLY WOKE UP.

I fell asleep IN A DREAM... IN A DREAM!? It was actually so weird. There was more that smoothed it out where I wasn't just jumping from thing to thing but when I wake up my mind starts writing over the memory of the dream like a VHS tape, Is this what it's like for people who normally dream or am I just different?

They posted furry porn.

But, it is topic related furry porn. And the community got viral.

A stress dream (lemmy.ca)

I won't say this scenerio is recurring but elements of it are. Also sorry for typos I'm hardly awake and using my phone.

I was in a classroom, whatever was going on had just wrapped up and everyone in the classroom was heading out. It seemed be somthing less formal then a class session, and it has run very late. It's around midnight. I have work the next day so this is a problem.

Leaving the school is odd, the structure is like a huge maze with lots of stairways in odd places. I've dreamed of this school a few times. I managed to eventually get out and I can see a bus stop. However. I've forgotten my wallet back in the classroom somehow. So I go all the way back and see it on a table open and full of cash. Another guy is also looking at it. It's a tense situation. I explain it's my wallet and he just hands it to me cash and all. Again I am outside I see a bus comming towards the stop and move to it. However I can feel the cold night ashfault under my feet. It seems I've also forgotten my shoes back in the classroom.

I wake up at this point stressed out if my mind at my own stupidity at 5am. The recurrence is that I need to go somewhere but I keep forgetting stuff and end up increasing late.

I am definitely the sort of person who leaves their home 2 or 4 times because I've left my wallets, glasses, ext. But I always plan accordingly as I know better. I also found it weird my wallet was full of money and this didn't cause a positive reaction. I never carry cash and have financial issues

This one also had a small social conflict as a result of my negligence. In this case the guy giving me my wallet and me worried they wouldn't. This situations are common in other stress dreams I've had. Given those other dreams I'm shocked that this didn't go worse.

Anyone else get these stress dreams? Any tips for dealing with them.

I keep dreaming of my old house that I used to live in with my parents back in the early to mid 2000's. It's worth noting that I believe in the paranormal and this house gave me many personal experiences. Every time I dream of it now, the house is always in some sort of disrepair: flooded basement, holes in the floor that lead to the basement, overflowing toilets, etc. But the majority of the times that I remember it's always the hole in the floor leading to the basement that pops up (the basement was the source of my paranormal experiences). Every time, the house layout is just slightly different from before, but the vibe is ALWAYS the same: it's eerie, it's empty, it's creepy and is always very nostalgic I guess? Like, for some reason, I'm always longing to return. Also, whenever I dream of a dead relative, it's always somewhere in this "house", I even dream about my dog in it (he was poisoned by the neighbors). But with my dog, a husky, his markings are totally different from his actual body. He's all white, but it's definitely him.

In my dream, there was a device just like this one except any human touching it turns into a bug and is fried: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kljtVtXIBrQ

The device killed Robert F Kennedy Jr. Him suddenly becoming a dead bug was creepy and enraging. I could feel the unpleasant victory of the 2 major parties. It was the opposite of the calming real life experience of discovering his presidential campaign. A while after I woke up, I checked Wikipedia to make sure he's alive.

This dream can be interpreted as a warning to give Secret Service protection to Robert F Kennedy Jr.

Edit: I also see life a little differently now.

Feeling the need to urinate, I went in to the appropriate room and found the big black cauldron that people are meant to piss in on the floor next to a fireplace. As I got going I noticed that the room wasn't empty, and that I was standing right next to a table for two where a man and his wife were trying to eat dinner. "Excuse me sir, didn't see you there" I apologized. They looked unhappy. As I continued, everyone else in the restaurant turned to look at me. As if I was the one doing something weird.

Some of my more startling dream experiences have involved beeps, and other old tech noises.

Last night I was having a rough one. Body temp was spiking and melatonin only kept me down for like 2 hours. I was in the danger zone for awhile.

I heard my roomate talking. Our relationship is a bit tense as I've had to kick them out, it's that awkward phase between when I've asked them to leave and them actually leaving. I worry they won't make it out there. But that's a differnt story.

Later I hear a long whine of their door opening. It's very diffent. Its the sound of a door but it's more organic like an animals cry. My eyes must be open because I can see them fumbling with their phone light trying to navigate in the dark. The light grows and shrinks over and over around my door. This seems to go on for awhile, I want to get up an figure out what the hec they are doing. But I can't seem to move.

It sounds now like they are putting their shoes on and and preparing to leave. They never leave the apartment. They have no job, family or friends. And at this hour?

I hear the heavy front door unlock.

BEEEEP! It's like in the old times when folks whould accidently hit a number on their phone during a call. That exact beep I havnt heard it years. It's loud and startles me into being awake. The noise was too loud to really source but I know by now it came from within my own head.

It appears to have just been a dream. Perhaps my roomate just used the bathroom, and my head filled in the rest.

This isn't the first time a beep has ended a dream like this. It's happened many times before with differnt beeps. Usually older sounding tech. I assume these are audio hallucinations. I have also heard loud blood curdling screams, and crying but those may have been junkies outside. They do that here.

Another simular example happened when I was very young likely only 9 or 10. I remember waking up and not being able to move. It was to early to wake up but the sun had risen. I hear a voice from a terrible speaker "hello" next to me in the corner of my room is a McDonald's drive through menu/speaker thing. The person on the other end asking for my order and sounded frustrated by my lack of response.

I'll also point out my phone alarm is just the phone vibrations, and not a beep. I'm usually awake before it goes off anyway. I have do not disturb mode on untill work starts so I don't get notifications at night.

I left went down the stairs from my apartment and saw a poster. It said one of the inhabitants had reported seing strange dark silhouettes and hearing demonic laughs in the building stairs.

I didn't take it seriously. In fact, I found ot so risible that I laughed out loud as I left... But the laugh came out quite demonic.

I think about this a lot. In my dreams, flying feels as natural as walking. Even crazy superpowers I invent and try for the first time work exactly as I expect because it's a dream and everything works as I expect. For a while, I even believed my lucid dream self was my true form and my waking body was just a less-than-authentic character I control in the real world. I now understand that dreams only feel more real than reality because dreams are 100% intuitive. Still, I can't help that being flightless still feels like a disability sometimes. I find myself craving the feeling of flying while I'm awake and unable to experience it.

Was on this weird rollercoaster gameshow where a group of people were attempting to make me press a button to give up. They threatened me physically but I was confident they couldn't actually hurt me or there'd be a lawsuit. One of them told me they would hurt me mentally instead. I thought I'd get ahead of them with mind games and press the button as if I wasn't able for mental bullying... All the people celebrated for their victory getting me to push the button while I pleaded it was a mistake of judgement and what my plan was. Obviously they did not give me a second chance

Right before I fall asleep, I'll remember some random details of a dream I had when I was 5-10 years old. It changes each night, but never is a newer dream.

Does that happen to anyone else?

one time, i had a dream where i was saving the people on a sealand like structure that was on the island of nauru after it collapsed and was underwater, the structure looked kinda destroyed, so i assume some explosion happened. alot of people also probably escaped by boat and plane before the collapse though.

This is weird as I've only seen a few episodes of the show Rugrats when it was a new thing many many years ago. It was one of those things I only watched when home from school and sick. There was probably nothing better on. I don't particularly enjoy it. I am aware there is an "all grown up" spinoff but I've seen nothing from it.

Anyway to set the stage of this dream. It had Tommy now "Tom" is in high-school. "Chuck" is there but the others are just gone. They moved or ended up in differnt schools. He's being brave but he is terrified of the new setting. Cliche as hell.

Tom's father Stu is a huge YouTube personality. His inventions never sold well but people love seeing him invent cool stuff and being entertaining. Everyone knows his channel and he's generally regarded as a wholesome dude.

The dream is just an episode of this in which Tom has an argument with a teacher about somthing. Tom knows he is right but gets in trouble for refusing to back down on it. Stu is called by the faculty who also have no idea who he is. Tom is given a detention and misses some Halloween event as a result.

No one other than Chuck knows Tom is actually the son of this YouTube guy and Tom keeps this a secret from everybody.

While Tom is in detention he is watching his fathers new Halloween video. Stu appears on screen and this awesome 3D avatar of a deer skull in a bone theamed suit. There's even bones outlining his wild hair and a cool scepter. He sings a (possible original) song about "going your own way" and "making your own path" apprently he can sing really damn well.

Though everyone is watching this all around him Tom understand this video is just his father talking to him. It's like Stu is saying "authority is going to fight you, but hang in there".

I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was about how it used to be difficult to make blue paint and that Leonardo da Vinci and other painters used to grind lapis lazuli and mix the powder with egg yolk and white wine to get a deep blue color.

He then did these steps but didn't get a deep blue color, which he said was because he hadn't gone through the arduous process of grinding and filtering only the bits from the rock with the deepest color, and that this long and arduous process was what made it so expensive in the past.

I suppose my dream was half true since Ultramarine was a really expensive paint made out lapis lazuli. ~~Though I still have no idea why I dreamed about a Vsauce short of all things.~~

So, I was in some world where there were two areas: one for humans, and the other was populated by anthropomorphic animals.

Well, I had three friends. One of them was a big rabbit whose fur was somewhere between light brown and desert sand brown, but I don't remember the other two, although I think they were people. I'm not sure if I was a human myself, but I had a feeling that I lived in the animal area, but were a human who had managed to make friends with the animals.

I was in the human area with my friends and had to go help some widow or something. I explored the city with an electric scooter. Apparently electric scooters were really popular there, because almost everyone rode one, despite the fact it was in winter. I saw a lot of people wearing nothing but a towel, it apparently had something to do with some holiday.

Now begins the more grimm part.

At some point, I was held a prisoner with my friends in a detached house. The family lived upstairs while we were in the basement. We were laying in some dark cell with a dirt floor and a tiny window near the ceiling when we were invited to another room. I don't know where the rabbit dude was when this happened, but I think he got to stay in the cell.

Well, we followed them to the room. The room was dark and has a cold tile floor that was either made out of stone or ceramic. We stood there, with no idea what will happen next.

Then I hear a gunshot and the next thing I know is that I'm wiggling like a fish on dry land. I can hear my friends screaming and after three more gunshots it is quiet.

My two friends are dead. I am rolling in a puddle of dark red blood and then ask "am I really the only one who survived?" I hear the coldest yes I could ever imagine and slowly get up, with my heart still beating so, so fast. Then they proceed to drag away the corpses, or more like pieces of them, as if they were just any garbage in the floor. When I walk back to the cell, I am still shivering.

Now that I'm awake, this scene felt so, so real and vivid compared to other parts of this dream that I get a bit shocked whenever I think about it. The sound of my friends screaming like dying pigs, the way I wiggled on the floor helplessly, my heart beating so fast, and everything else was just so realistic.

Well, at some point, for some reason, I was with the rabbit on a trampoline in the house's yard. It was a sunny spring day. I could see the city the animals lived in and were thinking about escaping and going there. Then I looked at the fence right next to the trampoline and said to the rabbit: "we could go this way". I stayed there for a while, trying to decide if I should take the risk.

I then thought that they shot two of my friends, so they'll shoot us too. I jumped over the fence and told the rabbit to do the same. The rabbit looked at me, I think he was quite unsure. I then told him that I will be running away and he can either come with me or stay there and eventually get shot. He then jumped over the fence and we started running.

Soon, I looked behind and noticed that he was laying on the ground. He had gotten injured and somehow one of his paws was detached. I then drag his unconscious (but alive) body away from the house. For some reason, I decided to keep his paw, thinking that it can be reattached.

When I finally arrived to the city, I met some salesman who was a badger wearing a brown fedora and a trench coat. They sold me some fabric or plastic thing to wrap the rabbit's paw in. They didn't find the fact that I was in some small alley dragging an unconscious body and carrying his detached paw questionable at all. Then I went to a library and met an owl librarian there. I think I knew her and I probably were going to ask her for help, but this is when I woke up.

I hope this dream will continue tonight, I really want to see what happens next.

I had a dream a couple of nights ago in which I heard an alarm going off but my phone was malfunctioning and the alarm wouldn't stop. Then I realized that it was my actual alarm and woke up.

I have also had some dreams in which I had to use the bathroom and I thought that I had actually woken up to do that, but I was dreaming.

Hi everyone, I made a community specifically for lucid dreaming. If you’re able to control some aspects of your world in the dream state you are welcome. https://discuss.online/c/lucid_dreamers If you’re able just to recall dreams and you experience them unaware that is a dream just stick to this community instead.

Last night, I had not one but two dreams in a row that I swear I had already had years ago.

1: I was starring in a Criss Angel film as Criss Angel himself and doing some act high up in the air. I resemble Criss Angel zero percent, nor can I achieve his mannerisms.

2: I was lost in a vast auditorium setting while a show was going on. I had gotten up to do something, and when I went to find my seat again, I lost my way and kept walking around aimlessly.

Daydreaming (self.dreaming)

Sometimes during a car ride when I'm in the passenger seat, tired, and there's no conversation going on, I close my eyes and let my thoughts wander.
I also tend to focus on sounds, things I feel and also whether I can recognize where we are approximately by the car's movement and the lighting through my closed eyes. It's kind of a habit I've taken with me from experimenting with some meditation that I still do when just relaxing for a bit.

Occasionally, I drift off to imaging some stuff, like continuing a conversation or a scene of a story I just thought about, taking a walk somewhere or other simple things like that.
I'm still aware of everything else around me, just that my focus is more on my imagination process. Usually I also ponder when to open my eyes again to check whether my location estimation is correct.

Just recently, I was imagining a conversation between two people, one advising the other on some matter they had a discussion about. I kinda slipped more into the role of the "teacher", while still also thinking about how the "student" would react.
The scene was sort of visible, yet not like a true dream.
At the same time, I noticed a shadow passing over us (the car), and thought to myself "oh, so we just passed the bridge", while continuing the internal conversation.
A bit later, after some turns, I wanted to confirm if my guess about our location was correct and opened my eyes in the middle of the conversation.

My guess was correct, and I tried to remember what I just thought of, as it seemed like I was at the verge of falling asleep. All details I just had in my mind a moment before were gone. All I could remember was that one person explained something to another, and that just barely.
Any content of the conversation I just held has vanished, no idea about the topic, what relationship the people had, how old they were or what they looked like.

That's the usual thing that happens, though I rarely remember anything at all other than it was kinda fun and that I'd like to continue, but can't.

A "deeper" kind of daydreaming

I enter my son's room because I heard talking, meaning he isn't going to sleep.

When I go in, I find his cousin there, who won't stop laughing. I grab his arm and ask him why he is there, and I realise there is no way he could be there. I angrily yank his arm and demand he tells me how he is here, why he is here, but he just keeps laughing.

I hear ragged breathing from my son, like he is struggling to breathe or being choked, and I turn back to see his head and shoulders covered in a dark shadow. I let go of his cousin and rush towards my son, and the shadow leaps onto my face making the world completely dark.

I wake up breathing quickly.
